Attention to detail counts

I sit and write this on my Apple computer, enjoying the visual experience that the system delivers.  Sure windoze machines are typically cheaper, but they lack the beautiful clean lines that make a Mac a design icon.  This isn’t intended to be a Mac vs. Windows discussion, rather it is a simple observation that beautiful… Continue Reading

Auto Show Fun

I was down at Cobo Hall today photographing an event for one of the European manufacturers.  Afterward I was able to stroll around the show and check out the displays.  This Boss 302 Mustang on edge was one of the more unique displays I saw.  There was never a great opportunity to shoot it without… Continue Reading

New Wall Art in the Studio

We received a very large shipment of Canvas Gallery Wraps today.  I have been planning for several new displays around the studio to highlight various ways to display multiple images.  When the holiday rush subsided I was able to spend a couple of days designing some new looks. A few weeks ago while perusing a newborn posing guide we saw many knit caps and blankets.  This has inspired Juliann to break out her needles and she has quickly amassed quite… Continue Reading

Stop and take a moment

My mom came by today to drop off a book.  She had just been at her hair salon getting the full treatment.  While she and Juliann (my wife) chatted about one thing and another I quickly set up my studio lights.  As mom was headed for the door I announced that she was to be… Continue Reading

New Backdrop

Went shopping yesterday and picked up a new backdrop.  It is a tie-dye velourish thing.  Possibly an acquired taste, but I like it. For this shot I used one light to camera left with no reflector.  I wanted to draw attention to the face and let the back of Nick’s head go into darkness. Continue Reading
