Photographed the first flowers of 2012

Spring comes early to Michigan

This time of year when I am teaching Photography Workshops and Individual Photography Lessons we are usually huddled in the cold trying to find a suitable composition without freezing to death.  Not this year.  This photographer for one is happy to see Rochester, Michigan enjoying record breaking weather.  We have enjoyed a steady supply of 70 and 80 degree days.

So now when I schedule a photography lesson I tell my photography students to come prepared to stroll around outside and shoot the emergence of Spring.  I have a photo walk scheduled for Sunday in Detroit and the number of photographers responding is skyrocketing as the weather continues to improve.  Every photographer I talk with is eager to get outdoors with their camera and learn more about photography.  I love teaching photography workshops in the Spring because everyone is so happy to be free of winter clothes and enjoying the feeling of the warm sun as I discuss composition, posing, lighting, and off-camera flash options for outdoor photos.

If you have a digital slr and want to learn how to tap into the full potential it offers, Spring is a great time to dedicate yourself to learning more about photography.  Everything is new and fresh so take advantage of the opportunity and get out and shoot some pictures.
